Six-year-old Lilo Pelekai lives in Hawaii. What initially sounds like a paradise is anything but pleasant for the girl. She longs for a best friend more than anything else. Loneliness is a major issue for Lilo and her 18-year-old sister Nani. Their parents have already passed away, and the two have to fend for themselves. The situation changes when Lilo comes home with a new companion from the animal shelter. She brings the fluffy creature Stitch with her. No one knows exactly what kind of animal Stitch is. One thing is certain, though: Stitch causes chaos, and Lilo has her hands full trying to tame him.
