A brief look at the life of successful banker Sam Wheat shows that he has found his happiness. Together with his great love, the artist Molly, he leads a carefree life. But then something terrible happens: after a theater visit, Molly and Sam are attacked. During a brief scuffle, a shot is fired from the assailant´s weapon, who then flees. It takes a moment for Sam to realize that he has been hit and fatally wounded. As a ghost, he is now trapped in an intermediate world.
